Surfer in difficulty – 05/13/2017 – 8:52 to 9:16

At 0852hrs, a member of the public alerted Whakatane Coastguard of a surfboard rider in trouble outside the Whakatane River Bar.  Sea conditions good, an outgoing tide, and a 12kt SSW wind.  Whakatane Rescue tasked to assist and brought the board rider safely back to Whakatane at 0916hrs.  A good outcome.
