At 1409hr the Police advised that a member of the public on the Toi Track at Kohi Point reported a surfer in difficulties in the tide line off Kohi Point.  The tide was outgoing and the sea moderate with 9-11kt wind from ENE. Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist and did a search off Kohi Point and along the tide line to the west. There were many logs in the water from the heavy rain over the past few days. No sighting was made of the surfer so at 1516hr Whakatane Rescue stood down.
