Steerage/engine problems – 03/06/2017 – 11:43 to 14:08

At 1143hrs a 53ft yacht anchored at Whale Is with 3 POB reported an engine and steering problem and requested assistance.Sea conditions were good with a calm sea and a SSW wind of 7-12kts.Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist and a tow was started back to Whakatane.Port Whakatane 3 assisted in the crossing of the bar and all vessels arrived safely back in the harbour at 1408hrs.A big thank you to Port Whakatane 3.
