Sinking Boat – 05/07/2016 – 12:56 to 13:02

At 1256hr Whakatane Coastguard received a call about a boat being swamped on Opotiki Bar and people were in the water. Police, Coastguard Eastern Region and Maritime Radio were also involved via marine channel 16. At 1302hr the Police reported that all persons were safe ashore and the emergency services were stood down.
