An red aluminium boat with 3 people on board reported that it had broken down off Pikowai and needed assistance. Weather conditions were good with a calm sea and 4-7kt wind from the south. Whakatane Coastguard made an all stations call for assistance and a good samaritain offered to tow the boat back to Whakatane. Many thanks to the good samaritain.
