A 3.7m silver dingy with 2 people on board reported via cell phone to another boat some distance away that they had broken down off Pikowai.  Sea conditions were good with 8kt wind from the south. Whakatane Coastguard made an all stations call for assistance but there was no reply so the boat receiving the distress call located the distressed boat and towed it safely into the beach.  Many thanks to the good samaritan.
