At 1037hr a 4.9m fibreglass boat with 1 POB reported that it had engine problems and requested a tow back to port.  The boat was found 5nm East of Kohi Point.  Sea conditions were good with 3kt wind from the West and a 1-2m swell. Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist. At 1055hr Whakatane Rescue launched and took the boat under tow at 1128hr.  Both boats were safely back in port at 1206hr.
