Motor – 02/13/2016 – 8:27 to

At 0857hr a 5.7m fibreglass boat with 3 POB reported it had engine trouble and needed assistance. The boat was east of Whale Island. Sea conditions were calm with 2kt breeze from NNE and clear visibility. Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist and at 0928hr found the boat which was taken in tow.  Both vessels arrived back in port safety at 0959hr.
