At 0907hr an 8m aluminium boat with 4 POB reported it had mechanical problems and required a tow across Whakatane Bar. The boat was 1km off Kohi Point.  Whakatane Rescue was tasked to provide a tow and with a crew of three was ready for launch at 0931hr. At 0956hr Whakatane Rescue reported it had the vessel under tow.  Both vessels were safely back in port at 1007hr.
