A charter vessel departing White Island reported a passenger with heart problems.  Whakatane Coastguard was asked to transport a St John Paramedic from Whakatane to rendezvour with the charter boat.  Sea conditions were good with 5-10kt wind from NE and 0.5 – 1m swell.  Whakatane Rescue with a crew of three plus the paramedic met the charter boat about 10nm north of Kohi Point.  The paramedic and equipment were transferred to the charter boat which proceeded to Whakatane.  Whakatane Rescue folllowed the charter boat into port.  An ambulance was waiting at the wharf and the patient was taken to hospital for treatment and observation.
