Mechanical – 12/30/2016 – 10:19 to 14:30

At 1014hrs the skipper of a commercial boat reported 5nm south of White Island with a mechanical problem and requested a tow back to Whakatane.The conditions were good with a N wind of 7-11kts and a .3m swell.Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist but first attended to the previous incident.At 1210hr Whakatane Rescue was outbound from the Ohiwa Bar and took the boat under tow at 1258hrs.Both boats were safely back in the harbour at 1430hrs.
