Gearbox – 04/28/2016 – 12:40 to 13:33

At 1240hr a 5.5m runabout with 5 POB reported that it had drive problems and could only make progress at idle speed. The runabout was 1nm off Ohope surf club and required assistance. Sea conditions were good with a 5kt wind from SW and little swell. An all stations alert was made and a good samaritan offered to help. At 1320hr the good samaritan had the runabout under tow and at 1333hr both boats were safely back in port. Many thanks to the good samaritan.
