Flat Battery – 08/30/2016 – 8:47 to 10:33

At 0847hr a radio call was received from a 6.5m aluminium boat with 1 POB. The boat reported that it had a flat battery. Sea conditions were good with 2-4kt wind from SSW and nil swell. An All Stations alert was made.  At 0851hr Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist the boat. At 0936hr Whakatane Rescue was launched and at 1000hr was alongside the boat. A power pack was used to get the boat underway and at 1009hr the boat was on its way back to port under its own power. Both boats were safely back in port at 1033hr.
