Engine problem – 28/12/2025 1044 to 1345 (44)

A boat reported at the Western end of the Opotiki mussel farm with an engine problem. Conditions were good with a calm sea and a light Southerly wind.  Whakatane Rescue II was launched and located the vessel. Then a boat off Waiotahi Sands reported an engine fire so the tow was dropped and Whakatane Rescue II proceeded to the stricken vessel. SEE NEXT INCIDENT REPORT. After the other vessel was towed back to Whakatane, Whakatane Rescue II returned and continued with the tow back to Whakatane.
