Engine problem – 11/10/2016 – 11:01 to 13:43

At 1101hr a call was received from a 5m boat with 1 POB.Initially,the position of the boat was given as off the Thornton Bar,unable to start the engine and requesting a tow back to Whakatane.The sea conditions were good with a 9-12kt wind from the SW and no significant swell.An All Stations call resulted in a good samaritan responding.After a search of the area no boat was located.On querying the given position, it was found that the boat was at the Rurimas.The good samaritan was unable to assist further so Whakatane Rescue was tasked to locate the boat and tow it back to Whakatane.Both boats arrived safely back in port at 1343hr.A big thank you to the good samaritan.
