Engine Problem – 10/23/2016 – 9:42 to 13:10

At 0942hr a call was received from a 5m Fibreglass boat with 3 POB.The boat was 500m North of the Whakatane Bar with a loss of power and requesting assistance.The sea conditions were very good with 7-10kt wind from the N and a calm sea.Due to the excellent conditions the skipper was happy to anchor and fish till ready to return to Whakatane.An All Stations call was made at 1232hr. A good samaritan responded and towed the boat back to Whakatane.Both boats were safely back in the river at 1310hr.A big thank you to the good samaritan.
