Engine problem – 08/26/2017 – 13:29 to 14:32

At 1329hrs a boat was seen  off the Whakatane bar,  drifting to the NW.  Attempts to contact the boat were unsuccessful so an  All Stations call was made.  A boat responded and proceeded to the stricken vessel.  The vessel had lost power and requested a tow back to Whakatane.  2 POB.  The responding boat was unable to carry out the tow so Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist.  Sea conditions were good with an outgoing tide and a 10kts wind from the NNE.  Both boats arrived back in the harbour at 1432hrs.  A big thank you to the Good Samaritan.
