Engine problem – 08/15/2017 – 13:14 to 16/08/2017

At 1314hrs a boat 4km North of Westend, Ohope reported an engine problem and requested a tow back to Whakatane.  2 POB.  Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist.  Sea conditions were poor with a 15-22kts wind from the NW.  The boat was located but due to the bar conditions it was decided to tow the boat to the Otarawairere Bay mooring for the night.  Both boats were safely back in the harbour at 1045hrs the following morning.
