Engine problem – 06/12/2017 – 13:39 to 16:23

At 1339hrs a boat at the 20m mark between Thornton and the Raurimus reported an engine problem and requested a jump start: 2POB.  An “All Stations”call resulted in 2 boats responding.  A jump start was unsuccessful so the boat was taken under tow by one of the vessels.  Sea conditions were good with no significant swell and a 10kt wind from the NW.  Due to a fuel problem with the towing boat, Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist and took over the towing.  A successful tow back to Whakatane at 1623hrs.  Thank you to the Good Samaritans.
