At 1332hr a mobile phone call was received from a boat with electrical problems. The boat was a 5.5m aluminium Stabicraft. The boats position was 16nm north of Kohi Point.  At 1341hr Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist and with a crew of 3 and was launched at 1404hr. The boat was located at anchor in 200m of water but with no power so could not raise the anchor.  Two crew of Whakatane Rescue went behond the call of duty and raised the anchor by hand. At 1511hr the boat was under tow and at 1626hr both boats were safely back in port.
