Boys on rocks – 11/04/2016 – 18:05 to 19:20

At 1805hr a call was received from Police SAR advising of 3 boys stuck on the rocks 1-2km east of Kohi Pt.Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist in the incident.The sea conditions were good with a 13-19kt wind from the WSW.Visability 10+km and a 0.3-0.5m swell.Whakatane Rescue located the boys but because of the depth of the water, Awanui the Coastguard IRB was tasked to take the boys off the rocks and transfer them to Whakatane Rescue.Both boats plus boys arrived safely back in Port at 1920hr.
