Boat taking on water – 01/29/2017 – 10:40 to 12:25

At 1040hrs a boat with 3 POB at the southern knoll of the Raurimus 300m off shore reported talking on water fast and requested immediate assistance.Sea conditions were good with a NW wind of 6-9 kts and a .2m swell.Another boat heard the call,located the stricken vessel,transferred 2 POB from the boat and took the vessel under tow towards the Raurimus.Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist ,located the boat at 1115hrs and commenced a tow back to Whakatane.Both boats arrived safely in the harbour at 1225hrs.A very successful outcome aand a big thank you to the good samaritan.
