Battery problem – 06/28/2019 – 15:33 to 15:55
A boat North of Kohi Pt reported a flat battery. Whakatane Rescue 2 was tasked to assist. A battery jump start was successful and both vessels proceeded safely back to Whakatane.
Engine problem – 06/28/2019 – 12:06 to 15:30
A vessel off Omaio Bay reported an engine problem and requested a tow. Whakatane Rescue 2 was dispatched and proceeded to the scene. The vessel was towed safely back into Schoolhouse Bay Te Kaha. Whakatane Rescue 2 returned safely back to Whakatane.
Fuel problem – 06/20/2019 – 14:44 to 20:20
A vessel 7 nm East of White Is reported a fuel leak and requested assistance back to Tauranga. Whakatane Rescue 2 was launched, proceeded to the scene and the vessel was taken under tow. Later the tow-line was passed to next Coastguard vessel and both boats proceded successfully to Tauranga.
Electrical problem – 06/04/2019 – 13:41 to 15:21
A boat reported off the Ohope Golf Course with a flat battery and requested assistance. Another boat heard the call and offered to help. The stricken vessel was towed back to Whakatane. A big thank you to the Good Samaritan.
Engine problem – 06/02/2019 – 11:41 to 13:41
A boat with 4 POB reported at the 20 metre mark off Ohiwa with an engine problem and requested assistance. Whakatane Rescue 2 was tasked to assist,located the boat and towed it back to Whakatane.
