Engine problem – 10/12/2019 – 20:00 to 22:30
A boat with 2 POB reported 6nm North of Whale Is with an engine problem and requested a tow back to Whakatane. Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist,located the boat and towed it safely back across the Whakatane Bar into the harbour.
Fuel problem – 10/09/2019 – 8:36 to 9:06
A boat with 3 POB reported North of the Whakatane Bar with a fuel line problem and requested a tow back to Whakatane. An All Stations call resulted in a boat responding. Both boats arrived safely back in the harbour. A big thank you to the Good Samaritan.
Engine problem – 09/01/2019 – 9:10 to 17:05
The yacht from the previous incident reported a mechanical problem 5nm North of Cape Runaway and requested a tow back to Whakatane. Opotiki Rescue was tasked to tow the yacht back from the Cape to abeam of Ohiwa Harbour where it was taken under tow by Whakatane Rescue. Opotiki Rescue returned to Opotiki. Whakatane Rescue towed the yacht safely back across the Whakatane Bar.
Engine problem – 08/31/2019 – 11:08 to 17:22
A yacht with 2 POB reported 10 nm North of White Is with an engine problem and requested a tow back to Whakatane. Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist,located the vessel and towed it back to White Is. The problem was reassessed and the engine was successfully started. The skipper of the yacht made the decision to continue with it’s journey. Whakatane Rescue returned to base.
Mecanical problem – 06/29/2019 – 9:21 to 12:31
A boat reported 15nm North of Kohi Pt with a mechanical problem and requested a tow back to Whakatane. Whakatane Rescue 2 was tasked to assist, located the stricken vessel and towed it safely back across the Whakatane Bar.
