Medical Emergency – 05/16/2021 – 10:50 to 13:40
A boat reported at White Is with a medical emergency and requested assistance. Whakatane Rescue launched with a medic on board and rendezvoused with the boat. The person was transferred to Whakatane Rescue and brought back to Whakatane.
Engine problem – 05/06/2021 – 16:38 to 20:20
A boat reported SW of the Rangipapa Knoll with a blown water hose and requested assistance. The call was heard by another vessel who offered to help and took the boat in tow. However, during the tow the rope broke, so Whakatane Rescue was tasked to take over. All 3 boats arrived safely back into the Whakatane harbour. A big thank you to the good samaritan.

A boat reported an engine problem and requested a tow across the Whakatane bar. Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist and towed the boat back safely back to Whakatane.
Electrical problem – 05/02/2021 – 13:02 to 14:45
A boat 8nm North of Whakatane reported an electrical problem and requested assistance. Whakatane Rescue was launched, located the vessel and towed it safely back to Whakatane.
Possible person in the water. – 04/25/2021 – 15:31 to 17:45
The Police advised Coastguard of what appeared to be an unmanned kayak off the Ohiwa Bar. Whakatane Rescue responded and located a large orange marker buoy floating in the area. Whakatane Rescue returned to Whakatane with the buoy on board.
