A boat off Kohi Pt with 5 POB reported an engine problem and requested a tow back to Whakatane. 4 minutes later, the skipper advised the boat was drifting towards the rocks. Whakatane Rescue II was launched and located the vessel. By this time the 5 POB had abandoned the vessel and were sitting safely on the rocks. A surf life saving IRB was requested to assist. The IRB arrived on scene and transferred the people onto Whakatane Rescue II. Whakatane Rescue II returned back to Whakatane.All POB  were safe and well. A big thank you to the surf life saving club.

A jetski reported at the Raurimus with an engine problem and requested assistance. Whakatane Rescue II was tasked, located the jetski and towed it to the Thornton Bar. The jetski then made it safely across the bar under it’s own power.

A member of the public reported an object in the water just outside the Whakatane Bar. Whakatane jetski rescue was tasked and  located the object which turned out to be a deceased sheep.

A boat reported at the Mussel Farm with an engine problem and requested a tow. Whakatane Rescue II was tasked, located the vessel and towed it safely back to Whakatane.
