A boat reported 500m off the Eastern end of Whale Is with a battery problem and requested a tow back to Whakatane. Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist, located the vessel and towed it safely back to Whakatane.

A yacht ran aground while entering Ohiwa Harbour. Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist. A charter vessel offered to help. Despite efforts to pull the stricken yacht off the sand it was unsuccessful. The yacht was left overnight on the bar and the occupants brought ashore. The yacht was towed off the bar by a salvage vessel the next morning.

A boat reported outside the Whakatane Bar with a fuel problem and requested assistance. Whakatane Rescue was tasked to assist and supplied the vessel with fuel. Both boats returned safely back to Whakatane.

A boat reported outside the Ohiwa Bar with an engine problem and requested assistance back into Ohiwa Harbour. The call was heard by another vessel who offered to help. The stricken vessel was located and towed safely back across the Ohiwa Bar. A big thank you to the good samaritan.
