Coastguard Whakatane Membership

Everyone boating out of Whakatane and nearby harbour and river entrances is encouraged to join Coastguard Whakatane. All members must be over 15 years of age.

By doing this you will be contributing to the cost of the services provided to the boating public (eg. Marine Radio Service and Rescue Vessel).

We have four classes of membership.

Ordinary Members

These members have all the rights, privileges and responsibilities of membership of the association. They are able to use our VHF marine radio channels 60, and 18. As a financial member you receive free assistance from our Rescue Vessel (Whakatane Rescue II) should you breakdown or need help while at sea. The benefits of an ordinary member cover a single family unit that includes the member, the member's partner and family dependents under 18 years of age.
Annual Subscription is $75.00

Associate Members

These members shall be persons, businesses or organisations who wish to contribute to the Association in some way (eg. a volunteer Radio Operator or Rescue Vessel Crew) but do not wish to become full members and use the services of our VHF Marine Radio Service or our Rescue Vessel. They are able to speak at General Meetings but cannot vote.
Annual Subscription is $37.50

Youth Members

Youth members have all the rights, privileges and responsibilities of membership of the association. They are able to use our VHF marine radio channels 60, and 18. As a financial member you receive free assistance from our Rescue Vessel should you breakdown while at sea. Youth members shall be entitled to attend all society meetings but shall have no entitlement to vote or to hold office on the Board.
Annual Subscription is $25.00

Honorary Associate Members

This type of membership is conferred on persons or businesses who in the view of the Board of Coastguard Whakatane have contributed significantly to the activities of the Association.
Annual Subscription is free

Life Members

These are persons or organisations that have rendered special or extraordinary service to the Association. They have full ordinary membership rights and privileges.
Membership is free

General Information

Coastguard Whakatane is a member of the Royal New Zealand Coastguard Federation which comprises of 65 affiliated member units from throughout New Zealand. We receive no direct Government Funding but rely on subscriptions, donations, grants and various fund raising activities arranged by the Board of Coastguard Whakatane.

Coastguard Whakatane Members

Please complete all applicable fields and check carefully before submitting.   You will not become a member of Coastguard Whakatane until your application has been accepted by the Board and the fees paid in full.  In the meantime you are covered by membership benefits assuming that the Board accepts your membership. Please note that their are no refunds if a member leaves or resigns. If a member's subscription remains unpaid after three months from the time it is due for renewal, the member will be deemed to be unfinancial and loses all  membership rights.
