A new initiative from our Education Service

We invite you to Join Coastguard Whakatane on their safety cruises. Passengers will enjoy visiting the most popular anchorages, while a full commentary reveals information on hazards and practical tips on safety. Departure is from the Whakatane Warf.

Special attention will be given to the Whakatane River Bar and Dingy Channel and advice provided on how to safely cross the bar with confidence. The cruise will include Otarawairere , Whale Island and the Rurima Islands, also known as The Raus. We will show you the safe anchorages and point out the hazards to watch for.

The Cruises will be held on Saturday's when we have sufficient bookings on the Charter Vessel "DiveWorks" and have a duration of approximately 2.5 - 3 hours. Boarding time is 0915 hours and departure at 0930hours

After the cruise you are invited to Coastguard Whakatane Headquarters for refreshments where we will show you some interesting video clips on our big screen. There will be time for questions and answers and to meet our Education Tutors and Coastguard committee members.
